I had a few people ask me what camera I took the photos from Haiti with? I usually am never without my nikon D300, at times I think it's permanately attached! But my trip to Haiti was a service trip. Even though the photo opportunities were awesome, that wasn't my priority. Because of luggage limitations, I decided to just take a small cannon point and shoot camera with me. I have to say, for a point and shoot, I was quite impressed. It was also nice to be able to shoot some video of the trip with it also. I certainly did not need my big fancy camera to capture the smiles of the children, and the beautiful people of Haiti. And to all of you who sent donations with us, God bless you, and thankyou so much!

Carnation Petals
My cute husband gave me flowers today! In the bouquet, there was a pink carnation with white tips on the petals. I thought that the pattern the petals made was really beautiful. I used the natural light coming in through the window, and took some close-ups. I was really pleased with the turnout. The color version of the photograph was very nice, but with the contrast of the dark pink and white, I decided to try a black and white version. I loved it! It almost looked like a drawing or painting, and all I did was convert it to black and white, no other special effects! This was taken with a Nikon 18-55mm VR lens. Oh, the fun I'll have when I get a real macro lens!
