Three Pines

I have posted several infrared photographs lately, but I have learned to love making fine art photographs this way.  I enjoy the surreal feeling that it gives my images.  It's also been a challenge to use this technique, and learn the tonal values in a light that we don't see naturally with our own eyes.  As an artist, I love these challenges!  It keeps things interesting, and helps me learn and grow as a photographer.

Multnomah Falls

The beautiful Multnomah Falls in Oregon.
At 620 feet, this waterfall is the most visited and well known in the Columbia River Gorge.  My favorite time to visit this area is in the autumn when there are vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows, that  add contrast to the lush greens.

Double exposure Tulips

This is another one of the in camera double exposures that I've been experimenting with.  I thought it was an interesting and different way to photograph the spring flowers. The first exposure of the tulips followed by a second of my concrete, front porch steps.  I liked the texture over the flowers, giving it an almost painted like feel.
If you want to try this technique with your DSLR, go into your menu, turn on multiple exposures, and choose 2 or more.  Then start experimenting. The possibilities are endless!

Feminine Strength

When I make an image, I like to think of what it speaks, not just what you see.  This image speaks strength to me.  Feminine strength.  Strength in our softness and elegance.  Strength in our compassion, courage, patience, nurturance, and so much more that make up the complexity of a woman.               Model ~ Jessa Young

A different kind of "Selfie"

Want to try something fun and creative with your DSLR?  In your menu under exposures, select multiple exposure and choose at least two.  This will allow you to shoot two or more frames to create in camera multiple exposures.  It's kind of a guessing game, but that's part of the fun!

Columbia River Gorge, Oregon

This was one of my favorite mornings in the Gorge.  The beautiful morning light shown throughout the canyon, painting a warm glow on the moss and trees.  I could hear the gentle sound of the stream and feel the water drops dripping from the rocks above me.
 A moment of pure perfection...
